Today, Marita shares this colourful, flavoursome puree. Not only does it look beautiful- it tastes heavenly! Beetroot has a subtle, sweet, earthy flavour and is great for boosting your little one’s immune system.
Beetroots are jam-packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals- including Calcium, Folate, magnesium and potassium.
Beetroots also help ease digestion as they are fibre rich- keeping constipation at bay.
Just be sure to keep your Tiger Lily Tots bib close- cause it’s going to get messy!!
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup Beetroot, peeled and diced
3 Apples (cored, peeled and diced)
1/4 cup Seasonal berries
METHOD
Steam your apples and beetroots for 15-20 minutes. (Keep some of the blending liquid with your cooked apple and beetroot)
Add your fresh berries and blend until you meet the desired consistency.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
This puree can be frozen and used when needed.
Use your puree fresh, or refrigerate overnight.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
This recipe is suitable from around 6 months.
Serve as breakfast or lunch.
Serve with plain yoghurt from around 8 months.
NOTES
Swop apples with pears to create a new flavour profile.
